The Jeep Compass is Here

Well, Jeep dealers are beginning to receive their fist Jeep Compasses, so we will start covering its evolution in this blog. The Compass is being billed as one of Jeep's biggest gambles, taking the brand to the uncharted territory of "soft-road" vehicles (more like a Subaru than a real Jeep).

Some are already talking about the dilution of the Jeep brand, while Jeep executives dismiss that idea and believe that Jeep will maintain its heritage as it tries to capture new markets.

As time evolves it will be interesting to find out if the Compass will become a marketing success paramount to what the Porsche Cayenne became (coincidentally, the voices crying foul back then were as loud as those rebelling against the Compass today), or if the Compass will become for Jeep an embarassment similar to what the Pontiac Aztec was for GM. Let the games begin!
